Up to 25-foot high glulam posts and a curved NLT roof give an outlook over the new Tianfu Agricultural Expo. This observation tower comprises a warped NLT roof, supported by a series of randomly leaning glulam columns.
Each of the column positions has been optimized to minimize the orthotropic stresses that occur in the NLT panels and to ensure that the sum of all column vectors equals a zero net horizontal force on the roof.
StructureCraft was the engineer on this project and supervised construction, working with SKF to create this lookout for the Tianfu Agricultural Expo.
